Thank you Canada, really.
With your help, last night’s amazing Alberta Flood Aid Benefit Concert generated $1.4 Million dollars in donations for the Calgary Foundation Flood Rebuilding Fund – an overwhelming show of support for our beloved province. On behalf of TELUS and our team members, I was honoured to present an additional donation of $100K towards the recovery efforts, resulting in $1.5 Million dollars raised from the show.
Everyone came together to strap on their boots and make #ABFloodAid a success. Music fans upwards of thirty-two thousand filled McMahon Stadium to watch an awesome list of performers take the stage. Matt Good was fantastic as always, Randy Bachman took care of business and I was also lucky enough to welcome the lovely Miss Jann Arden to the mic – not before snapping one of my favourite selfies of all-time (hilarious hosting, Brent!). It was a packed house, not to mention fans across the country who tuned into our first-ever concert live streamed on YouTube!
The floods that hit Alberta earlier this summer were disastrous, but the resulting relief efforts from our community, including last night’s concert, have reminded me why I’m proud to be a Canadian… and happy to call Calgary home.
Thank you to each and every one of you who contributed to the cause.
