Creating a friendly future

Spring is one of my favourite times of year, it’s when people are motivated to do their small part to clean up so collectively we can make a bigger impact for an important initiative – taking care of our planet. I’m not only passionate about the environment because I’m the Communications Chair of TELUS’ National Sustainability Council, but also because I have two little people at home who will inherit this planet we live on, and I want that to include fresh air, clean water, green grass and bountiful trees for generations to come.

Recently, we were named one of Canada’s Greenest Employers by Mediacorp for the sixth consecutive year. I’m proud to work for a company that prioritizes the environment and giving back to the community, and to that end, there’s no better time than to share our latest Sustainability Report – a beautifully crafted collection of stories and information about how we integrate sustainability into everything we do such as:

  • With the completion of TELUS Garden in Vancouver and upcoming TELUS Sky in Calgary, TELUS will own or lease more than 3 million square feet of LEED certified facilities.
  • Providing a flexible Work Styles program enabling close to 70 per cent of our eligible team members to work remotely allowing us to reduce carbon emissions and our real estate footprint (while enabling better work-life balance).
  • Remaining steadfast in our commitment to reduce our absolute energy consumption by 10 per cent, and our absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 25 per cent by 2020.

We never stop innovating, so stay tuned for more exciting sustainability news later this year.
