I’m excited to help announce that we, at TELUS, are following our hearts north.
From many trips across Northern Canada, we fell in love with the spectacular landscapes – some of the most beautiful scenes that Canada has to offer. We also fell in love with the people, a diverse and vibrant culture composed of people from all over Canada, and indeed, the world, who proudly call Northern Canada home.
Northerners welcomed us with open arms. They gave new meaning to the word hospitality. They offered open and honest feedback about what northerners need, and expect from a wireless company, and we listened. I heard, loud and clear, that they want to support a company that puts customers first, and putting customers first means several things. Today, with the announcement of our arrival in Northern Canada, we’re proud to deliver on all of them.

We’re extremely excited to bring our full suite of industry-leading 4G and 4G LTE smartphones, tablets and mobile high-speed Internet products to Northern Canada. We’re also bringing our ultra-simple Anytime Upgrades program to make it easy for customers across the north to upgrade to the device they want, when they want it.
Our customers in Northern Canada get access to Canada’s largest 4G wireless network, covering 99% of Canada’s population, including 24 communities across the north. Customers in Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Hay River and Fort Smith can also enjoy 4G LTE technology – our fastest network yet – offering blazing fast mobile Internet speeds of up to 75 Mbps. We can’t wait to serve even more communities across Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut as our coverage expands!
At TELUS it’s not just about powerful devices, coast-to-coast coverage and blazing-fast speed – we also care about quality. If something’s wrong, we want to hear about it, and TELUS launched Canada’s first network experience mobile app, making it easier than ever for customers to report network issues and get the latest updates on new coverage.

In Northern Canada, TELUS holds itself to the same high standards for customer experience as it does in anywhere else in Canada.
On September 6, we’ll update our new TELUS website with fresh content for Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. We’re proud of our new website and how we’ve listened to our customers feedback, incorporated their ideas to deliver an online experience that’s second to none.
Later in 2013, Petron Communications will open two new TELUS retail stores – one in Whitehorse and one in Yellowknife. These stores will showcase the same stunning design you’ll find at stores across the country and they’ll be a great place for customers to come and discover the latest TELUS smartphones and technology.
Soon after opening, our stores will feature the popular TELUS Learning Centre – where customers can get a complimentary one-on-one or group learning session with a trained expert who will help them get the most out of their smartphone or tablet.
“Be a part of our community”
We feel honoured and privileged to become part of the Northern Canada community and at TELUS, we always give where we live. It’s our pleasure to announce that we’ll contribute $25 for each customer who purchases a new smartphone and activates Whitehorse or Yellowknife phone number to support the community.
In the Yukon, funds from every smartphone activation on a Whitehorse phone number will help provide new technology to aid in the early detection of developmental disabilities at Yukon Child Development Centre.
In the Northwest Territories, funds from every smartphone activation on a Yellowknife phone number will go to the Stanton Territorial Hospital Foundation to help with the purchase of new equipment for the Obstetrics Unit.
Both TELUS Phones for Good campaigns run from September 6, 2013 to May 6, 2014, contributing up to a maximum donation of $25,000 for each charity.
It’s with glowing hearts that we announced today that TELUS has become a part of the community in Northern Canada.
But we’re not done yet. We’re still listening to our customers – customers like Meghan B (@MeghanSEB), who can’t wait to see what we’re bringing to the north.
