What a Difference a Year Makes: A Look Back at TELUS’ Community Initiatives

Giving back in our communities is at the heart of everything we do.

We work to empower the game-changers, the carers and the givers. Together, the difference we make today can build a brighter tomorrow.

Over the last year, we’ve had the opportunity to partner with some amazing organizations and meet some remarkable community champions. Take a look back at some of our favourite moments and meet some of the people who remind us every day that amazing things happen when we give where we live.

One day, 1,000 activities and more than 15,000 volunteers to make a big difference

Being passionate about doing good in our local communities means we recognize the impact we can have when we come together to work toward a common goal. That’s why every year we take a day to lend a hand and give back on TELUS Day of Giving. Read more about the difference we made.

A real life Angel taught us what it means to give

Angel is a passionate, vibrant 18-year old from Port  Alberni, B.C. Angel shared with us that through her non-profit business, Hugginz by Angel, she sews special hospital pajamas, blankets and hats for sick kids and kids with special needs. We were so moved by Angel’s generosity, we knew we had to help. Learn more.

Giving youth a voice

Oliver is six years old and has cerebral palsy. While his infectious energy knows no bounds, his ability to communicate in the traditional sense has always been limited. Learn how Oliver is now able to share his feelings, make those around him laugh and ensure his voice is heard through the support of cutting-edge technology.

Inspiring the next generation of change makers

TELUS and Free The Children have a shared vision and a shared intent – we want to help engage and empower youth to be leaders, both locally and globally. Bringing together more than 120,000 like-minded youth in 2014, We Day is unleashing a new wave of passion for community giving in our youth. Learn more at weday.com.

Good Deeds for Wild Things

According to World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world has seen a 52 per cent decline in species populations since 1970. With the help of our customers and all Canadians we donated $500,000 to WWF, Tree Canada and Nature Conservancy of Canada to protect Canadian animals and their habitats. Learn more.
