What would you do with $10,000?

We365er Wins Epic Prize

Snapchatting with your bestie, finishing your math homework, some after-school volunteering and watching vlogs on YouTube, these are pretty popular occurrences for the average teen. But getting an email saying you won $10,000 to donate to whatever charity you want? Now, that’s a little more out of the ordinary. No wonder 18-year-old Surrey-local Laura Kim almost deleted the We365 email saying she won the $10k prize.

we2“It felt really unreal… I thought it was spam!” she said.

This ambitious, hard-working teen from the West Coast was selected as the winner out of thousands of We365ers from across the country.

“When I realized it was real, basically, there were lots of tears of happiness.”

Moral of the story?

Double-check those emails!

Once realizing her winnings were definitely legit, Laura immediately went to her high school’s social club Project Equal, and collectively, they decided to donate the money to animal welfare non-profit, the BC SPCA. The organization was so stoked to be chosen (and we’re sure our furry friends across the province were, too) that the CEO even thanked Laura personally.

Laura got to give BC SPCA a huge dog-bone shaped cheque, and lucky for us, the whole thing was caught on camera. Check out the video below to see what went down and to hear from this awesome We365er yourself!
