“Go Als Go! Go Als Go!” Each summer, during the TELUS Montreal Alouettes Game, I let myself get carried away by the fans’ enthusiasm. This year especially, we have done everything possible to ensure that football fans enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience.
First, we are launching the second phase of the Alouettes mobile app, created by TELUS. More collaborative than ever, it now allows fans to make predictions about the final score, rushing yards, passes, tackles, sacks and more! In making their predictions, fans get the chance to attend one of the Alouettes game in the TELUS VIP section, or they can win a trip to Regina for the 2013 Grey Cup.
This week, to enable supporters to practice making their predictions, we asked Étienne Boulay to meet some very special challenges. Videos were posted on our Facebook page: how long would it take him to run 40 yards while carrying a cheerleader on his back? From how far could he complete a field goal, if he wore a cast on his foot? We also asked him to throw a ball with his left hand, jump with his feet tied together, and much more. Many of you from our Facebook community enjoyed encouraging Étienne during these challenges.
Downlaod the app and TELUS will give back to Opération Enfant Soleil
We invite you all to download the Alouettes app. On August 22, during the TELUS Alouettes Game, we will donate $1 to Opération Enfant Soleil for every download, up to a maximum of $5,000! The Alouettes app also lets users vote for the Player of the Game, read the latest news and get up-to-the-minute statistics on game days. Fans can also view videos, learn more about their favourite players, check out the standings and schedule, purchase tickets and much more.
We give where we live
TELUS is in its 12th year as a major partner of the Alouettes. In addition to offering our financial support, we provide the organization with mobile and wireline telecommunications services. Most importantly, our “We give where we live” community investment philosophy is at the heart of our partnership with the Alouettes. Each year, we team up with the Alouettes to visit several children’s hospitals in Quebec as part of the team’s annual “Touch the Hearts” tour. In addition to bringing a little sunshine into the lives of sick kids, this partnership has enabled us to donate $45,000 to major hospital foundations since 2010.
Moreover, each year TELUS invites kids and charities to attend the TELUS Game free of charge and see their favourite players in action. This year, dozens of children and their families will be front row centre, as we donated our game tickets to Opération Enfant Soleil, an organization that TELUS has supported for over 10 years.
So, what are your predictions for the August 22 game? Obviously, I’m willing to bet that thanks to the generosity of our fans, the Alouettes mobile app will be downloaded so many times that we will reach our goal of donating $5,000 to Opération Enfant Soleil!
Enjoy the game, and “Go Als Go”!
