I continue to be inspired by what TELUS is doing to improve the health of our communities, customers, employees and our planet. The launch of our Sustainability report provides our stakeholders an opportunity to review TELUS’ sustainability performance and importantly, a chance to look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.
We have improved the look and feel of this year’s report and have actually renamed it to better reflect our broader view of the issues that matter to our communities of interest and to us. To inform our sustainability strategy and our reporting, we collaborated with many stakeholders to help us refine our key focus areas, assess our current performance and establish a roadmap to help us enhance TELUS’ sustainability leadership. I’m thankful for the passion so many participants showed in engaging with us on this part of our sustainable development journey and grateful to the extended team that assisted in putting this report together.
The Sustainability report, in part, describes the impacts TELUS’ sustainability strategy and actions have economically, environmentally and socially and is complementary to our Annual report. Click on the links below to see some visual summaries of our efforts with respect to:
- Environmental Stewardship – waste and recycling, energy use and GHG emissions
- Employee and Community Investment – Work Styles®, give where we live®
- Customer Experience – reliability, data privacy and security
We have set several challenging targets for 2015 including reductions in paper purchases, long-term waste diversion goals and an increase in hours spent volunteering in our communities. I am confident that our engaged team and committed leadership will help TELUS innovate as we strive to be a global sustainability leader.
Thank you for taking the time to read this report; I hope that it will inspire you to contribute to a more sustainable future each and every day. If you have suggestions on how we can be more sustainable, please comment on this post with your ideas.
