Five Reasons To Enter The Small Business Challenge

The Small Business Challenge allows Canada’s brightest entrepreneurs to showcase their unique business ideas and share their biggest challenges. Now in its fifth year, the contest attracts more than 1,000 entries annually. In celebration of this milestone, we’ve worked with The Globe and Mail to make our fifth year bigger and better.

Here are five great reasons to enter this year’s Small Business Challenge.

15_00243-05-Infographic1-715x250Most new small businesses are self-funded or financed by family and friends. But, sometimes these businesses need additional funding to overcome hurdles and get off the ground. That’s where The Small Business Challenge can help. Imagine how your small business could grow with $100,000.

15_00243-05-Infographic3-715x250In order to survive and grow, small business owners need to look for every opportunity to gain exposure and promote their business. This year, throughout the Small Business Challenge, 68 businesses will be showcased in The Globe and Mail and recognized on our social media channels; helping build brand awareness and attract new customers.15_00243-05-Subhead-700x250-4 15_00243-05-Infographic4-715x250To enter the Small Business Challenge, small business owners need to propose a solution to their biggest obstacle. At the heart of it, entrepreneurs are asked to reflect on the values of their company and its long-term strategy.  We live in a fast-paced world and small business owners often don’t make the time to step away from running their business to consider the bigger picture. Even if you’re not one of the winners, you’ll gain invaluable insight into your business.15_00243-05-Subhead-700x250-5

15_00243-05-Infographic5-715x250We believe it’s imperative for businesses to give back to their communities, so we’ve added something new to the grand prize this year. In an effort to encourage all organizations to be philanthropic and promote our philosophy of giving where we live, we’re providing the grand prize winner an additional $10,000 to donate to a local charity of their choice.

Over the last five years, The Small Business Challenge has helped innovative Canadian companies overcome their challenges and reach extraordinary heights. We’re accepting submissions until June 1.
