One of the reasons I love my job is because every day I get the opportunity to surprise and delight people in my community with the charm of the TELUS brand. When our media agency partner, Cossette, came to us with the idea for free Wi-Fi on transit, we jumped at the chance. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to leverage the strength of our network and our focus on putting customers first. We’re really glad to be giving commuters a chance to be more productive by connecting with work, pass the time by streaming a video or reading their social media news feed on their commute with free Wi-Fi.
Working with Translink and Cossette, we picked a few popular bus routes that have particularly long commutes in order to surprise riders on their way to work or school. Starting today, I’m excited to announce that for the first time in Western Canada, transit riders will be able to take advantage of free Wi-Fi on three Vancouver public buses. One bus along each of the following routes will offer this service:
- 99B Line – Commercial-Broadway Station to UBC
- 351 – White Rock to Bridgeport Station in Richmond
- 555 – Carvolth Exchange in Langley to Braid Station in New Westminster
You won’t have trouble spotting the buses since all three are wrapped in a playful ‘when pigs fly’ themed motif. If you happen to spot our bus on your daily commute make sure to share with #TELUSWifiBus for a chance to win one of two tablets. And as always, we’d love to hear your thoughts so feel free to join the conversation using #TELUSWifiBus.
